![]() ![]() If a piece of vault gear has empty modification slots, modifiers can be added to it by completing a Vault objective with the gear equipped, or by applying a wutax crystal to the gear in an anvil. Modifiers are only active when the piece of vault gear is equipped in its respective slot. Vault gear modifiers can grant the player benefits such as better chest loot, health recovery and increased mobility. Once this has been determined, the gear's base statistics, pre-built modifiers, and number of repair slots (except for vault idols) and modification slots are determined based on the gear's type, tier and rarity any modifiers added to the gear post-identification are likewise based on this same information. Newly identified vault gear will first roll its rarity based on its set of possible rarities. ![]() Right-clicking a piece of unidentified vault gear will identify it after a delay (or instantaneously if the player is also holding an identification tome). The tier and rarity roll are correlated with the way the gear was obtained- for example, a piece of gear obtained in a Vault chest at vault level 25 is likely to be Tier 1, Scrappy rarity only, while one obtained in a Treasure Chest at vault level 300 might be Tier 3, Epic+ (i.e. Newly obtained vault gear is always unidentified, with only its type (vault boots, vault axe, etc.), tier (1-3) and set of possible rarities (eg. Vault gear can be worn and wielded in the same manner as its vanilla counterparts.
